Overview of amphibious dredger
The amphibious dredger is a special engineering vehicle that combines land mobility with floating capability on water. It overcomes the limitation of conventional excavators or dredgers, which can only operate in a single environment. This multi-functional dredger can efficiently perform dredging, silt removal, and environmental remediation in challenging conditions such as swamps, wetlands, shallow river and lake areas, ponds, drainage canals, and intertidal zones – where conventional machinery cannot easily access.
Core structure
This China dredger typically consists of a pontoon-type tracked undercarriage, an upper slewing platform, a working attachment (excavation arm / cutter head / slurry pump), and a power system.
Pontoon-type tracked undercarriage – Sealed, large-section pontoon track shoes provide sufficient buoyancy for floating and moving on water. The track design also prevents sinking in soft mud or swamps, ensuring low ground pressure.
Amphibious / excavating dredger power system – Usually equipped with a water-cooled or air-cooled diesel engine with excellent sealing performance suitable for wading operations.
Versatile dredging attachments – Can be fitted with standard buckets, hydraulic cutter heads, cutter suction dredger,environmental grabs, or slurry pumps to handle different materials (silt, sand & gravel, clay, or debris-laden sludge).
