"Tian Kun Hao" Voyages to Ghana, Demonstrating Global Operational Capabilities
In October 2025, China's largest domestically designed and built heavy-duty self-propelled trailing suction cutter suction dredger (CSD), the "Tian Kun Hao" , was deployed to the Tema Port expansion project in Ghana after a long-distance relocation voyage of over 10,000 nautical miles (approx. 19,026 km).
Engineering Challenge: The vessel is required to excavate rock with a uniaxial compressive strength of up to 50 megapascals (MPa) , posing a significant test for its equipment.
Hardware Specifications: The "Tian Kun Hao" is 140 meters long, with a total installed power of 25,843 kW. Its mud pump delivery power reaches 17,000 kW, the highest in the world.
